State to rebuild footbridges in Magarini Constituency

The State Department of Public Works is charged with the responsibility of planning, designing, construction and maintenance of Government assets in the field of built environment and infrastructure development. Assets in built environment include hospitals, schools, colleges, technical institutes, prisons, courts etc. Assets in infrastructure development include footbridges, sea walls, breakwaters and jetties.

In 2014 foot bridge in Magarini Constituency, Kilifi County, was washed away due to the unprecedented heavy rainfall in the area and also country wide.

The other footbridge connecting Shakahola and Hawewanje was damaged on April 25th this year by floods.

The local community gathered at Shakahola where they were addressed by the Magarini MP Hon. Michael Kingi and PS Public Works, Prof. Paul Maringa.

PS Maringa committed to giving technical support with designs for reconstruction starting immediately and to be completed within 2 weeks.
