Project Highlight – 1,370 Housing Units at Park Road for the Affordable Housing Program

Construction of the first of many housing projects for the Affordable housing program has begun in earnest. The project was awarded to China State Construction and Engineering Corporation. The State Department of Public Works is supervising the project. PS Paul Maringa, made an impromptu visit to the site accompanied by the Chief Architect, Arch. S. K. Muli.

The site is located in Ngara, Nairobi and sandwiched by Park Road, Kinsasha road and Muslim road. The project scope will include one, two and three bedroom housing units, a parking silo and other social amenities. The works are scheduled to be completed within two years.

Location plan

The delivery model is by Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Finance (EPC+F). The developer shall be responsible for designing, building and financing of the project and is encouraged to use innovative design, technologies that adopt affordable mass housing production and take into consideration cost, time and quality

The government undertakes to upgrade the social and physical infrastructure in the neighborhood to accommodate the proposed development. The physical infrastructure includes the access roads, sewer, water and power supply.

  1. If I want to make payment using cheque or RTGS which bank and account number will I use? What is the qualification for a person to be allocated the house? How will the allocation be done?
